After you play around with the RATP app and Google Maps, getting around Paris will be relatively easy. Bus stops and train stations even have a digital display of how many minutes is left before the bus or train arrives in real time, which is usually around 10 minutes.
We got on a bus for Le Grande Epicerie de Paris.
The gist is, Le Grande Epicerie de Paris makes the US Whole Foods Market look like a Dollar Store. Just like that. Walking inside, all I wanted was to leave, come back with a sleeping bag so I can just live here.
The store is four stories tall. The first being a “wine cellar”:
The middle floor is where all the food is. They have a big cheese, tea/coffee, seafood, meat and everything-in-between sections, some divided by country.
I overheard from another shopper that these were their dry aging lockers where they dry the meat for 12 days. I never had dry-aged meat, before. I heard it's awesome.
Cans of foie gras. I wrote a short story mentioning foie gras some months ago. I'll probably post it later.
Seafood! I never saw shrimp this big before (that's what she said)!
Patisserie. They were giving away sample chocolate cake which was the best I had in I-can't-remember-how-long.
They had a kitchen tool section. That's my beautiful better half. I like her homeless person skirt.
What a badass polygon chair.
In the food floor, they had two food bars. They are set up like real bars with the bar stools and all but they serve not just beer and wine, but food also.
They have a tapas bar – all the exotic ham like Iberico and cheese. They also have something that blew me away: a truffle bar. They sell a handful of truffle oil infused dishes that showcase the truffles like pasta, salads, fish, etc., all with actual truffle shavings on top. And they don't skimp on it. They put a shitload of it on there. They also sell whole truffles, cheese truffles, olive oil infused truffles, truffle embedded cheese, etc. Oh, and the wine! I ordered the cheapest glass they had, but it actually was the best I ever had (that's what she said), it was a syrah - Domaine de la Ville Rouge Crozes Hermitage Inspiration. I usually don't like sweet wines too much, but this is sweet in a je ne sais quoi way. <= I had to google how to spell that.
I had the pasta. Truffle shavings have a subtle flavor, not like the oils.
La famille.
