Uber Airbnb

June 25, 2016

There are a lot of things that technology and the internet has affected. The dissemination of information, be it bad or good, is irrelevant to the fact that it made information widely available. Personally, I have grown a lot as a person because of the information that I got from the internet. I went from being an agnostic to an atheist, I learned more about art and philosophy, I learned how to write music and write it with other people who have similar musical interests as me.

Through airbnb we were able to find and communicate with someone willing to share their home with us (for a good price) while they were away so we could see Paris. And while we were in Paris, it helped us get around and share our experiences in real time, no less. Many a time, I would google on my phone “May I have...” - “Puis-je avoir..” and “Thank you for your patience” - “Merci de patienter...” in secret, then try it out on a French person. It also saved us from a missed flight once when I was GPSing the direction a bus we were taking and found out was going the opposite direction. The www also helped my wife get in touch with an old college friend which led to him joining us in Paris. He is the one who takes care of getting Uber rides when we need it. I could go on and on about how readily available information and technology enriched my life or anybody's life for that matter.

Those freaking humans and their tools, I tell you.
