When in Rome.... act like a tourist. Because you are.
Here are some photos of popular tourist spots/traps that we went to during our first week in Paris.
It's ironic that the areas that people identify Paris most with barely have any Parisians in them. Those areas teem with crazy Asian tourists like us.
When you walk along the area along the Seine river near the Eiffel tower in the morning, you'll see dark green plywood boxes that are locked up. They are, actually, unattended stores that open up later during the day to reveal all kinds of Paris souvenirs.
One of the many bridges that cross the Seine.
Louvre Museum exterior detail.
Louvre Museum brain-like pattern exterior detail.
Louvre Museum exterior. Like what a lot of tourists and wedding photographers and subjects do, we did not go inside. We went to get our pictures taken from the outside.
I don't know what this building is.
One of the first French words I learned is “soldes”, meaning “sale”. It's posted everywhere because there's a sale everywhere.
Boat tours galore. This particular boat reminds me of the giant insects in Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
More busts and nip slips.
The view of the Arc de triomphe when crossing Avenue des Champs-Élysées where everyone goes to shop or drool over stuff they can't afford. Watch your arms and legs if you find yourself in the island in the middle of the street because motorcycles, scooters and bicycles will whiz by you inches away.
I never realized how gigantic the Eiffel tower is.
